SIMUN

SIMUN experiences.

What did you think of SIMUN?

I enjoyed SIMUN very much and it was a great experience for me. I look forward to it next year. Even though I thought my country (China) was going to be very difficult it was worth all the time and effort I put in to researching it, it may have been tough at times but I just stuck through it and still did a really good job.

How did you do?

As I said in the last question, I did very well. The first day I was under a lot of pressure because the first scenario that was brought up was “China hacked a number of European Companies websites”, so I was kind of freaking out when it was brought up the first day of my SIMUN experience, but I got on my game a held my ground against all the other countries. Also the first day I basically had no allies and everyone was against China.

How did you prepare?

I prepared by following the research, since Mrs. B told us that they had a relationship with all the scenarios that were going to be brought up during SIMUN. This prepared me for each of the scenarios and helps me figure out who were my allies or opposed to my country. Also during the 23 hour caucuses’ over night I would go back and re-prepare myself for what I thought were the next scenarios. In fact the first one went through the first day plus a small portion of the next day so I went home and prepared for the questions that I would be drilled with the next day.

What will you do differently next year to prepare.

Next year I will most likely try and research my country and all the questions that we are given even harder than I did this year, just so I’m properly prepared to the best of my ability for any discussions brought upon me at any time by any other country. I will most likely attempt to help an other people, such as the upper classmen did for me. I my even attend MAMUN, depending on how much money I can get together so I can go.

Taliban Invading Pakistain

What would “CHINA” (my country) do if the Taliban entered and occupied Pakistan government along with there nuclear war heads/ weapons of mass destruction?

First off my SIMUN country was China and china has high relationships with Pakistan, as an allied nation. If the Taliban were to enter Pakistan and occupy nuclear weapons, and essentially occupy Pakistan, china would most likely try to help and take back Pakistan from the Taliban. Both Pakistan and china help each other out and back each other up on there ideas and ways of government. Pakistan supports china on any thing such as the support from Pakistan towards Tibet and Taiwan, as well as China Supporting Pakistan on the opposition for involvement in Afghanistan. China and Pakistan also share a close military relation, with China supplying a range of modern armaments to the Pakistani defense forces, and there is also a free trade agreement between China an Pakistan. Due to the high relationship between China and Pakistan, China would be the first to get in Pakistan and attempt to get the Taliban out. China would most likely not start nuclear war or any war that involves high impact missiles because it would be firing on there own allies people and government. China and Pakistan may also call upon help from other countries, maybe from the United Nations to be specific. But as you can see China would be the first to act against the Taliban, but it would really depend on what the Taliban does when they were to take the nuclear war heads over, if they were to start war china would most likely improvise and have to start the flight of missiles to Pakistan. Being the decision of china I would follow these actions and be the first to go into Pakistan to control the Taliban and gain Pakistan back from the Taliban.

The Pearl

The Pearl By John Steinbeck

I am reading the Pearl by John Steinbeck. In this book there are many cultural differences. Such as the fact doctors and more wealth people were usually a different race or had a different background. in the beginning of the book a less wealthy person that lives in a village of small huts. The son of the main character was stung by a scorpion. The doctor states that he doesn’t want to deal with poor Indian boys. Kino and his wife then realized they have to relay on hope. they go diving for pearls unlike people that work for money, this is another reason the doctor turns him down. he goes fishing for these pearls and find the biggest oldest pearl had ever seen, and the town started calling it the pearl of the world. once he had the pearl everyone thought he was rich and famous. people began to attack him and the doctor even decides to heal the child. This shows that money can change the way people live or think towards people with money. I recently finished the book and there was an unexpected ending for my self, and its also a fairly small book that doesn’t take long to read but there’s meaning behind the story and it gives the reader a good lesson on life. I recommend this book to readers, not for the fact that it’s a short easy read but for the facts I stated above, that it’s a good story and there’s a lesson behind the book.

Mr. Fielder comment translator volume 1

Mr. Fielder comment translator volume 1

“Crap –“This means your paper is worse that the worse.

“Fart –“This means you have the absolute worse paper of the day/class.
“Struggle” This means you are to have troubles writing your paper while thinking it out. Mr. Fielder requires struggle in all of his papers. If you struggle you succeed.
“Big fisherize” To make your story to relate to the movie Big Fish.
“Damn-it Blazer” When Blazer messes up Mr. Fielders great ideas.
“You broke it” When you break something when it’s not actually broken
“Stay Focused” Don’t mess around and work or Mr. Fielder will get out the machetes from Rwanda.
“Prove This” Mr. Fielder says this when hes trying to stump you on a topic or question.
“Talking is not an Option” dont talk when Mr. Fielder wants you to work or he'll go make 30 copys of an artical and give you a crap loud of homework.
“Stronger” Mr. Fielder says this when he wants you to have a stronger point os idea.
“You Beat The System” When you beat the books or ideas, you will experience this when you learn about eliminating clutter.
“Roll up your sleeves” Mr.Fielders way of saying get to work and actually work.
“Clutter” a form of filler words or words that are not neededin writting, see this whole blog is full of clutter.
“They invented the paragraph in 1972” Mr. Fielders way of saying use paragrphs in your writing
“Blazer they created this thing called the capitol I” When blazer or anyone uses lower case i's in thier writing, mostly in blogs and in this sentence.

See volume two coming soon, due to the fact that Mr. fielder never gave me any more words to write down so i still accomplished my half ass job on this blog by cluttering the page using lower case i’s not staying focused not struggling hard enough and not having a strong idea or opinion. So this grade should be any where from a crap - to a fart -, or even both.

Oh and Mr. Fielder there was no way to put a picture on here or even a hyperlink so you shouldent mark me down a all for that cause i just saved you time by writing all about your wonderful comments.

Big Fisherized story

Once I was told to write a story. I was told to rewrite a story from the past, and big fisherize it. Now some might say to big fisherize a story is not difficult, but I say its one of the toughest things you can do. To take a past story of your life would be messing with what actually happened if you were to big fisherize the story. The challenge is to have some thing actually happen in your life and think of how it was to be big fisherized. Now I thought long and hard about a story from the past and how I could big fisherized it. I thought of many stories that could have been tampered with. I asked my fellow classmates for pointers on writing this difficult piece art that our awesome teacher Mr. Fielder has brought to us on this fine day. I even thought of making up a story that would not be true in any way to me. I thought of copying some one else’s ideas (such as Dan P. did off of Brian Smith) but it just wouldn’t be me in this case of an assignment. So you can see I spent a lot of time thinking about this work of art I am presenting to you. Its now 7:30 and the real story starts now.

This whole week I have had time to think about the big fisherized story that is due tomorrow, which is Friday February 19th 2010.It so happens that I thought of an excellent story to write that would be big fisherized all on its own. So I took a day for thoughts and other things to come to my senses. So I started to type it down. Although I had had time to think of story it was still difficult and had realized that Mr. Fielder wanted to challenge us and to struggle greatly on this wonderful piece. So I thought the story can never be told straight, and can be told many different ways every time. Therefore the big fisherized story is a big fish that can never be caught or in this case written. If you read this and it makes no sense at all don’t consult me because I already know it doesn’t make sense.
( See Mr. Fielders Comment translator 2 blog coming soon for definitions of struggle, challenge, and big fisherize)

Artical Response

China Rejects U.S. Complaints on Its Currency

Thesis: The U.S. should urge china to change their currency for a more fair trade.
First off trade is at a great disadvantage to the U.S., due to the large debt the U.S. owes to china. In the artical China Rejects U.S. Complaints on Its Currency, By Edward Wong and Mark Landler, they state that " Economists agree with that assessment. They say that the Chinese currency, the renminbi, is undervalued by 25 to 40% compared to the dollar and other currencies. Now that statement says a lot right there, it says that the currency in china is far less in value to meny other contries. Think of it this way, you are at lunch someone is tradeing their oreos. You want thoughs oreos, but all you have is some crackers. China is the crackers and are no where close to value of the oreos (the U.S. dollar). If this trade goes through this was a great trade for China but, the not the U.S. because the values are way off.
Some might have great ideas for approching this subject but I dont and niether do you. Some might say to stop with all the exports but the U.S. would loose so much from that and i think that China could maintain life without the U.S. Now China would be out  2.4 trillion $ in trade with the U.S. and the U.S. would be out so much supplies that are great essential luxury thing that american want and would have to find else where for much higher prices. So you can see how much we need china to stay a major export for the U.S.

What I've Learned in Mr. Fielders Class This Semester

What I've Learned in Mr. Fielders Class This Semester

The thing I learned most is learning the background and history of the Rwandan Genocide. From watching Hotel Rwanda to Writing the Paul R. letters it covered the whole topic from left right. Without going over the Genocide I probably would never have known about it. I learned that people were killed by their neighbors or friend because small differences. Also that people were brain washed by the interahamway people through a radio station. During the debate, any small holes or questions I had were answered by my fellow classmates.
I also learned a lot about the Australian aborigines. How they were set aside and pushed off their land so the British could dump their convicts there. How their children were taken, to go to British schools so they would leave their thoughts and culture behind. How the British were attempting to breed the aborigines out of existence, to abolish the whole culture as the British schools were also for. The Rabbit Proof Fence movie was very powerful looking at it in a way other than knowing absolutely nothing about the topic, And recently learning that the aborigines were hunted as if they were rabbits was an amazement to me. Also reading walkabout didn’t do much for me considering the last three or four chapters were way off topic to the rest of the book.
I have learned much doing the article responses every so often that I now know what is expected from Mr. Fielder every week, and in the beginning of the year when he knew that we weren’t ready for two paragraphs he was right. From learning how to develop a paragraph the whole first card marking, I now know how to develop the first paragraph and base the second paragraph as support for the first one.
I also learned to use the correct apostrophes and capitalization when writing papers. At first I was not so good at placing the correct apostrophes where they should go, but after a few lectures about the Jones’s I don’t think I will forgetting how to place apostrophes, and use the correct capitalization skills.
I believe that I also achieved the goal of being in global ed. in this semester. I have learned that not all the different cultures we have learned about are not all the same, and that what we might think is weird or a lot different then what we are use to isn’t always different to other countries or cultures it’s a normal or regular thing to them.
